My husband and I had been married five years when we asked his parents about joining the family holiday trip. My mother-in-law always planned vacations for everyone, so we assumed it would be no different this year. Instead, she coldly told us we weren\u2019t invited.<\/p>\n

Confused, my husband asked why. She looked directly at him and said, \u201cIt\u2019s a family trip to Disneyland\u2014just for the kids. Since you don\u2019t have any, this doesn\u2019t include you.\u201d<\/p>\n

We stood there stunned. My husband explained we planned to have children when we were ready, but she simply shrugged and replied, \u201cWhen you give me grandkids, then you can come on the family vacation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Watching the hurt on my husband\u2019s face broke my heart. For years he had defended her behavior, always insisting she meant well, but in that moment even he couldn\u2019t deny the truth\u2014his mother\u2019s love clearly came with conditions.<\/p>\n
