I gave everything I had.<\/p>\n<p>At the reception, she thanked everyone\u2014vendors, friends, even distant relatives.<br \/>\nBut not me.<\/p>\n<p>I waited.<br \/>\nMy son said nothing.<\/p>\n<p>That silence hurt more than her words.<\/p>\n<p>The next morning, he called. His voice was calm but firm.<br \/>\n\u201cMom, if you ever feel unappreciated, I need you to tell me. Don\u2019t go quiet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So the next time it happened, I listened.<\/p>\n<p>I called him. I didn\u2019t yell or accuse\u2014I just told him how I felt. Then I let it go.<\/p>\n<p>He listened. Really listened.<br \/>\nAnd then he said something I\u2019ll never forget:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sorry I didn\u2019t speak up that night.
