She looked away, then back at me. \u201cYou told me to leave.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know,\u201d I said, my voice barely above a whisper. \u201cAnd that was the worst thing I could\u2019ve said. I was wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Silence filled the room again\u2014but it felt different this time.<\/p>\n<p>After a moment, she slowly reached out her hand.<\/p>\n<p>I didn\u2019t hesitate.
