License and registration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The lawyer chuckles.<br \/>\n\u201cI slowed down. Nobody was coming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The sheriff folds his arms.<br \/>\n\u201cYou still didn\u2019t STOP.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now fully in courtroom mode, the lawyer grins and says:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTell you what, officer\u2026<br \/>\nIf you can explain the legal difference between slowing down and stopping, I\u2019ll hand over my license and gladly take the ticket.<br \/>\nBut if you can\u2019t\u2026 you let me go.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The sheriff pauses.<\/p>\n<p>Then smiles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFair enough, counselor.
