After we got married, my daughter became quiet and withdrawn. She insisted nothing was wrong, but I knew something wasn\u2019t right.<\/p>\n<p>One night, I overheard my stepson in her room saying, \u201cI\u2019ll take whatever I want, like always. You\u2019re not going anywhere.\u201d I was stunned. It turned out he had been mocking and belittling her for months.<\/p>\n<p>I was ready to kick him out immediately, but my husband stopped me, saying I couldn\u2019t just do that. I was furious and told him if he wouldn\u2019t protect her, I would \u2014 even if that meant leaving with my daughter.<\/p>\n<p>That finally pushed him to confront his son that same night. My daughter seemed relieved afterward, but I\u2019m still uneasy.
