He had a calm voice and gentle eyes. He would check my IV, adjust my blanket, ask about my pain, and remind me not to lose hope. He never stayed long, but somehow his words reached the part of me that felt completely alone.<\/p>\n

Soon, I started waiting for those visits.<\/p>\n

He made the room feel less cold.
